ENGAGEMANS - COMMITMENTS FOR THE FUTURE
Since the club was founded in 1906, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has always placed the values of solidarity and mutual aid at the heart of its development.

In 2021, we formalised our commitments to sustainable development with a three-pronged approach. In line with the CSR strategy announced in June 2021, ACO presented the 24 Hours of Le Mans’ carbon footprint and a clear ambition of CO2 reduction named Race to 2030. In 2024, ACO has been awarded the ISO 20121 certification and the FIA 3-star environmental accreditation

CERTIFICATIONS
ISO 20121, an international benchmark

ISO 20121 certification proves that responsible systems have been put into place for managing events. At ACO, it involves integrating sustainability principles into the planning and staging of events while taking on board social, economic and environmental impacts.

We are strongly committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), notably through the development of hydrogen as an alternative energy, the Sustainable Endurance Award by DHL, the Garage École du Mans initiative, as well as partnerships with charities such as Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque. These projects were key in earning certification in June 2024.

FIA 3-star Environmental Accreditation

FIA 3-star Environmental Accreditation is the organisation’s flagship programme aimed at improving environmental performance in motorsport. Achieving this accreditation represents the highest possible distinction and rewards our actions on environmental issues.

All our departments are involved in the process, underscoring our collective commitment to more ethical and environmentally friendly best practices.

Actions Taken

Our commitment is underpinned by three founding principles and meets 12 of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
