For a responsible economy

#CIRCULARECONOMY
The second area is key to event organisation. From sustainable management to our contribution to local economies, we consider the impact of everything we do.

The whole ACO setup benefits from this commitment.
  • Responsible catering
Our commitment to responsible catering includes reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging farm-to-fork systems which rely on local producers.
We have been working for many years with committed caterers, such as the ISO 20121-certified Renaud Traiteur. This international standard for sustainable event management was developed to promote responsible consumption and mitigate the negative effects on local public services and infrastructures.
Our Race to 2030 programme goes even further. We shall be increasing our local sourcing, cutting back on disposable containers and clamping down on food waste while encouraging the reuse of organic waste.
For instance, we replaced single-use plastic cups with reusable Ecocups back in 2010,saving some 40 tonnes (2,900 m³) of plastic to date.
We have also launched a new catering initiative to increase the share of local produce, including in our purchases from wholesalers.

    A CIRCULAR APPROACH

  • tourism
For almost a century, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been a fixture of economic and cultural heritage, locally and on a national and international scale.
In 2023, we contributed €321.1 million to the French economy. Our suppliers are located at an average distance of 172 km from the venue with those in the Sarthe département accounting for 89% of our expenditure. The 24 Hours of Le Mans alone created the equivalent of over 1,060 full-time jobs in 2023.
Outside the celebrated endurance race, other activities continue apace all year round.
The venue hosted over 400 business events in 2023, while the 24 Hours Museum attracted record numbers with almost 210,000 visitors over the year. The Karting des 24 Heures was also busy with over 31,000 sessions held in 2023.
