2025 24 Hours of Le Mans – Presentation of the LMP2 category

Seventeen cars are set to line up in the LMP2 category at the 93rd 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-15 June), nine of which have crews with both professional and amateur drivers (Pro/Am). Known for being highly competitive, this category always delivers the intensity. Defending champion United Autosports is determined to defend its crown.

What is an LMP2?

The "Le Mans Prototype 2" (LMP2) is a closed car designed solely for racing and reserved for independent teams competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Four constructors were chosen to furnish this category's chassis: Dallara (with the P217), Onroak Automotive (with the Ligier JS P217), ORECA (with the ORECA 07) and Riley/Multimatic (with the Riley MK30). Gibson is the only engine supplier in LMP2.

The selling price of a new and complete car without the engine or approved electronic equipment must not exceed €483,000.

Driver line-ups must include at least one Silver or Bronze driver. Those with a Bronze driver compete in a specific classification: LMP2 Pro/Am.
