24 Hours of Le Mans – Iron Lynx crew members launch an awareness campaign

The crew of the #85 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO, Manuela Gostner, Rahel Frey and Michelle Gatting are launching a campaign with the FIA Women in Motorsport commission to encourage more women to take up the sport.

The Iron Lynx driver trio of the #85 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO is entered in LMGTE Am at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second year running. All three would like to see more women taking part in motorsport. Named “Iron Dames”, the social media campaign intends to inspire women and sweep aside stereotypes and preconceived ideas about racing.

The idea is to complete the phrase “I’m an Iron Dame when...” by sharing

  • a moment when they felt particularly strong,
  • or a child’s drawing of anything racing-related, such as a helmet or racing car.

Participants are invited to tag @iron.dames and @fiawim on Instagram and @irondamesofficial on Facebook, add the hashtag #BeAnIronDame, and invite five friends to join in.

Contributions can also be submitted by email, to welcome@irondames.racing.

Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting, Manuela Gostner and Deborah Mayer are looking forward to meeting participants in the future.

The Iron Dames project was initiated by Deborah Mayer, Ferrari ambassadress for women in motorsport. In 2019, Gostner, Frey and Gatting formed the first all-women crew to race a Ferrari 488 GTE at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
