Jump aboard the Porsche 963 for a lap of the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans

Porsche Penske Motorsport welcomes you aboard the #5 Porsche 963 for a lap of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans racetrack. The #5 car finished highest of the Porsches in the overall classification.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary marked the return of Porsche to the highest level of endurance. So how did the manufacturer holding the record number of outright wins fare?

The #5 Porsche, driven by Dane Cameron, Michael Christensen and Frédéric Makowiecki, crossed the finish line in 16th place overall, and ninth in the Hypercar class. It must be said that Porsche did not enjoy the best of luck during the race with all three factory 963s losing ground due to technical problems and incidents. The #5, for instance, spent over 20 minutes in its garage for repairs to its cooling system. While in the final lap, Michael Christensen practically “carried” his car to the chequered flag due to transmission issues“We had hoped for more,” admitted Factory Motorsport Director Thomas Laudenbach after the race. “There were various reasons why we weren’t successful. We’ll take a good look at these issues and make further improvements. I feel positive about the future.

At the 6 Hours of Monza, run less than a month after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the #5 Porsche finished fourth, one lap behind the winning Toyota.

As we wait to see how the Porsche 963 performs in the season’s remaining races, let’s take a moment to enjoy a lap of the Circuit des 24 Heures on board the #5 car.

More onboard videos await on the 24 Hours of Le Mans YouTube channel.
